Custom MILWAUKEE ROAD E8-B unit DCC and Sound

This is a custom N scale Milwaukee Road E8 B-unit with DCC and sound. It has a highly modified Kato shell on a Precision Craft E-unit mechanism with a LokSound V3.5 decoder.

The molded on grab irons were carved off the shell and replaced with free standing wire grab irons. Likewise the molded on roof mounted lift rings were also replaced with Gold Medal Models lift rings.

Free standing wire adder grabs are installed on each end of the unit. The carbody openings behind the Plano models etched metal grills were simulated with black paint.

Sometime in the 1960's, Milw Rd unit 32B lost most of its porthole windows and these were filled in and repainted on the model as well. Microscale decals were used to decorate the model, Included is the small lettering along the sides that indicate such things as Fuel Oil, Engine Water Filler, Emergency Fuel Cut Out , etc.

The model has light to medium weathering with oil washes, pan pastels and acyrlic paints. (The photos washed out most of the weathering and the actual model is slightly darker) Models runs well and is programmed to the engine number. Comes in a Kato Box.
